Good Evening! We been having difficulties with our exhaust fans can you assist to locate the problem because they are not coming on. Is it a hardware issue or a electrical issue? Thanks
Hi Rohan,
Do you have your exhaust fans plugged into a relay?
Do you have power from the relay when the switch is turned on?
Does the exhaust fan turn on if it is plugged directly into a wall receptacle?
Is the function of the exhaust fan triggered by a sensor? Eg. temperature or humidity?
This should help to narrow down the issue to either the fan, relay, program, or other.
Gregory
Hi Rohan,
Do you have a manual way of turning on the fans, outside of the environmental control system? That would isolate the problem to either an electrical/mechanical issue, or a control issue.
Hello Loren! Im not there at the moment but yes it looks like an electrical issue.
Hello Loren! When the situation happened i was away on vacation but when i came back, we worked with the engineering department to locate the issue. They test the breakers and they said that the greenhouse have full electricity. I check all the hardware connection numerous time and i found corrosion on one of the wires connected to the Rio and another for wire connection as well. We work along the IT Department and we changed the connections and wires. We were able to get the exhaust fans for Greenhouse 1 running but we still cant find the issue with Greenhouse 2. We are not using Greenhouse 2 at this moment but we will try to continue to resolved this issue gradually.
We are having issues with the dry contact relay. The automation with the solenoids and the pumps is not coming on together.
Can you see if the problem is in the automation or in the wiring? Trace it from the card to the dry contact relay to the pump
-
Does the card that represents that dry contact relay show the relay engaged?
-
Does the LED lamp on the dry contact module come on when the card says it’s engaged?
-
If it’s an automation problem, there are manual overrides on those dry contact solenoids, which should allow you to run until the automation problem is resolved.
-
Since the automation has been running for quite a while, it’s likely not a control problem, but an electrical problem:
-
Is the dry contact relay opening/closing?
-
Is that dry contact opening/closing the electrical circuit to the pump?
-
Is the electricity going to the pump, but the pump is failing?
The likely cause in the harsh environment is something failing in the electrical system, not the automation program. I’d be happy to work with you and your electrician to trace the problem.
Let me know if you’d like to set up a call to go over the troubleshooting procedures.
