We would love to get some assistance with an issue with the System Probes in Aurora Greenhouse 2. The system probes are stuck, and we can’t have access to Water temperature, Ph Level and EC Level online. Is it an issue on our side or you all side. If its on our side, any suggestions to get operational?
It’s odd that they’re showing the exact same data. Are you saying they’re stuck together, or frozen in time, or both?
Usually the history helps tell the story. What does the history data show about when this started, and if it is associated with anything else happening at that time?
Also double check connections and other data on the back of the card that could explain this.
The back of the water sensor cards have a [Verify] button in the GrowNet device section. If these sensors aren’t verifying, there could be wiring issue between the controller and the sensors.
Sometimes cycling the power on these devices and the RIO can help.
These are GrowNet devices, which are connected through the USB cable from your controller. The USB cable goes to a USB hub, and from there a Cat5 cable plugs into a distribution box.
To debug this setup, first see if anything works that is a GrowNet device (peristaltic pumps, temp/humid sensors, etc). The fact that both water sensors are failing suggests there is something wrong that could affect all GrowNet devices.
If one or two devices are failing but others work, then it’s likely a cable problem between the 8-port distribution box and the device.
But if all GrowNet devices are failing, it’s likely a connection problem between the controller and the 8-port distribution box. That distribution box is also powered by a 24 volt power supply, and sometimes they can fail.
My go-to for debugging is Replace with known good unit. If you have cables, boxes, power supplies that you know are good, start by replacing with those.
Be aware that if you unplug the USB cable between the controller and the USB hub, you will need to restart the controller for it to recognize the USB hub. Cables between the USB hub and the devices can be disconnected, and reconnected without restarting the controller.
The 8-port distribution box that the power supply plugs into has an LED. If that LED isn’t lighting, it could be a bad 24 volt power supply.
Hopefully that’ll get you going with debugging. The most likely cause is a bad cable or bad power supply, so starting there could save some time.
